Forge Crew Helper

Forge Resources Group, a leader in custom short-run steel forgings, is searching for a Forge Crew Helper to join our Rockford, IL production facility.
*EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:* * 6 – 12 months forging or other heavy manufacturing experience *TYPICAL DUTIES:* * Follows directions of Upset Operator or Supervisor, as a member of a crew * Assists in performing all operations, including die change set-ups according to established procedures * Loads steel billets onto the apron of the forge furnace * Monitors billet heating process and regulates furnace temperature to assure adequate supply of billets are always heated to appropriate level * Uses 36” to 60” tongs to handle billets going into and out of furnace * Removes heated billets from furnace and places at upsetter * Notifies Upset Operator or Supervisor of any problems affecting production * Operates trim presses with various tooling such as trimmers, punches, tong holds, etc.
* Maintains forging unit area in a neat and orderly manner * Operates fork lift equipment as necessary * Performs other duties as assigned *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* * Continuous Standing * Continuous tolerance of high heat environment * Frequent unassisted lifting up to 50 pounds * Frequent grasping and gripping with both hands * Frequent pushing / pulling / twisting / turning with upper body while holding parts or tools * Occasional arm / shoulder swinging movement of sledgehammer weighing 20# * Occasional unassisted lifting over 50 pounds *EDUCATION:* High School Diploma or GED preferred Forge Resources Group is a Drug-Free Workplace.
