We’re seeking an experienced hospice nurse leader with a clear vision for what it takes to be the region’s gold standard for hospice care.
The Director of Clinical Services reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
This position directs the administration and coordination of multidisciplinary patient care services, including clinical, financial, operational, and personnel management to meet Northern Illinois Hospice’s goals and objectives in accordance with its standards, policies, and regulatory requirements; evaluates and monitors programs, making changes to programs that will support the management of hospice patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
Oversee overall clinical performance through the coordination of direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical personnel, assuring quality and the safe delivery of services.

Delegates and makes assignments to ensure smooth clinical operations and completion of departmental goals and responsibilities.
3.
Teaches and upholds Northern Illinois Hospice’s standard of “I Am a Teacher,” managing to perfect documentation and model visits.
4.
Guides Team Leaders to manage well, including how to continually improve all aspects of team’s hospice care services and effectiveness (planning, daily operations, personnel and performance management, fiscal).
5.
Acts as a clinical practice expert/resource to the department and other leaders regarding Medicare requirements, Joint Commission standards, and related regulations.
6.
Maintains a culture of accountability including but not limited to regulations and policies, standards, Timesheets and mileage submission, performance assessment deadlines, goal achievement, etc.

Develops, reviews, and revises clinical policies, procedures, and protocols, and monitors departmental compliance.
8.
Actively participates in incident/compliant investigations and resolutions as assigned so matters are resolved timely, communication with appropriate parties occurs, and the department follows agency policy.
9.
Develops and recommends proper risk management procedures and policies so as to limit risk to the organization, keeping the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Quality, Compliance and Education informed of high risk and other appropriate issues that could potentially affect the organization.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Master’s degree a plus but not required.
Training and Licensure: Registered Nurse in Illinois with current licensure.
Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing required or achieved within 2 years of hire.
Experience: At least five years of management experience in a hospice or related health care organization required.
Joint Commission accreditation experience preferred.
